22 for 2022

“I finally figured out the only reason to be alive is to enjoy it.”
Rita Mae Brown

For the past four years, I have been inspired by Gretchen Rubin and her sister Elizabeth Craft to identify a “1 word theme” for the year and a corresponding list of goals. The challenge this year was to set 22 goals to achieve by the end of ‘22. Check out Gretchen’s instructions on how to build a list of your own here.

WHY SET GOALS?

This annual practice allows me the time and space to identify what is important to me and how I could make the most of the new year. I started by reviewing 2021 and listing what I wanted more of and what I wanted less of in 2022. I discovered that I want to ENJOY more in ‘22. I tend to focus on getting stuff done, this year I want to ENJOY what I am doing, how I am doing it and who I am doing it with! My word of the year is ENJOY! I will use ENJOY as a mantra and a guide for making difficult decisions as often as possible.

I recommend that you set goals for 2022. The process can help you identify what is significant to you and the list can give you a sense of purpose.

MY VISION FOR 22

One of the things I enjoyed the most in 2021 was drawing, so I decided to incorporate art into my goal setting for the year. The picture above is a type of “vision board” that I created over the course of 2-3 days. This process of creating this board gave me an extra boost of happiness!
