DIY Wellness Retreat
Relax and nourish yourself at a wellness weekend for $300!
You don’t have to travel far from home or spend thousands of dollars to unplug, recharge and have fun. It would be great to attend a wellness retreat on a sun drenched beach with yoga, mediation, surfing lessons, healthy food and workshops, but for many of us that is not realistic. Here are some ideas to build self-care into your weekend without breaking the bank.
Saturday
Attend a FREE yoga class at @athleta
I attended one that was followed by 1/2 hour of private shopping, and snacks plus a 20% off coupon!
Shop at a local Farmers Market
Eat lunch alfresco (in the park, at the beach or even in your backyard)
Purchase a @groupon for a massage or spa treatment
I scored a 90-minute hot stone massage for $80!
Dinner and a show
The choices are endless with streaming options like @netflix, @amazonvideo, @hulu and the list goes on and on
Pick a documentary, comedy or suspense movie to enjoy
Evening meditation is made easy with the @calm or @headspace apps or you can listen to a meditation podcast like @tarabrach
Sunday
Hike the @clevemetroparks with @gretchrubin and her sister @lizcraft, well kind of, you can listen to their podcast @happier while you hike!
Create your meal plan for the week with the help of @skinnytaste
She shares her weekly plan for healthy, easy recipes online
Read something to inspire you
@mariekondo one (just one) room or closet or drawer
As @gretchenrubin says, “outer order brings inner calm”
I know it is not very often that you can take time away from your pets, family, friends, volunteer obligations and household chores to indulge in these types of activities. But remember, it does not have to be an all or nothing choice. Maybe you can only do 1 or 2 things from this list or maybe you will find yourself with a free weekend on the calendar (like I just did) to enjoy all of them. You don’t need to spend $2,000 for an all-inclusive wellness retreat at a health spa in Mexico, you can bring elements of that experience into your life today for $300 or less.
